Western Massachusetts

In Western Massachusetts, history comes alive with fascinating looks back into the lives and surroundings of Native Americans, life in 18th- and 19th-century New England villages and more. It's also an area that has fully embraced its past with a variety of places that offer historical reenactments. At the Hancock Shaker Village, you can explore 20 restored, historic buildings and take part in hands-on activities. And at Storrowton Village Museum, you'll find an authentic 19th-century American experience, complete with a village green and meeting house.

Museums & Sites

When you have the Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum (a restored 1902 depot), Old Greenfield Village (a replica 1895 New England town), or Arrowhead (home of Herman Melville, author of Moby Dick) and much more, chances are you'll run out of time before you run out of attractions.
